Kinect Voice Control
So with the Xbox 360 dashboard update we should now for the most part all have voice control for our shiny black boxes or white ones if you have yet to upgrade. One of the main complaints of Kinect from the day one was that at launch, it didn’t do the kinds of things you’d imagine it being able to do like navigate through your Xbox with ease. Voice commands were extremely limited, and only worked within certain apps. It felt like the system was being vastly underutilized, but Microsoft has now changed that. Or have they?? I have been playing with the new dashboard and Kinect with it and to be honest, is it not so much easier to pick up your controller??? I mean yes the voice commands are a nice touch, aside from the fact that you cannot turn the Xbox on with voice commands and to turn off you have to go to settings then turn off. I still think the response time and tracking of the motion sensor is off. Also I find it to be pretty pointless that the pause, play, rewind functions of the voice control, only work with films or music purchased or rented through your Xbox. I watch alot of DVDs and stream films and music from my PC to my Xbox so I feel a little short changed on this note.
